On the first day of Chinese new year, it has always been a custom for our family to wake up early, dress well and wait at the living room to pay our first respect to the elderly.

This is also our first year for us to give angbows to them

We have vegetarian food on every first day of Chinese New year and this year we had it at Happy Arts Deli at Metta building,one of the vegetarians' favorite restaurants.

This time preggie can take the vegetarian sharks'fin soup! Even the mock abalone tastes good too.

Then right after our lunch, more visitings to make and some were fascinated by the round belly of mine.On 2nd day of CNY, usually it's a whole day of stuffing ourselves crazily with great food from my grandma's place. Two large tables of food which consists of steamboat, curry mutton, hainanese chicken, abalone, lobsters and many more...My mom was in a happy mood to serveThis delectable feast is prepared by our star chef of the day, my grandma.

This year's CNY reunion dinner is held at Summer Palace at The Regent Hotel.

This reunion dinner is significant for us too because it marked my 5 months pregnancy with jellybean. I remembered last year reunion dinner when we were talking about our coming wedding. And one year later, we had our jellybean joining us for this year's reunion dinner. Our menu for the evening

Instead of the usual salmon/abalone yu sheng we had annually, this year is made special with lobster yu sheng instead.

Preggie is banned from Shark's fin soup this year. But she can get an extra serving of abalone.Double-boiled egg white with Bird's nest,rich in protein...great for all expecting mummies and I was forced to gulp down two bowls.

Throughout the entire dinner, I felt much movements from jellybean. I guessed he was enjoying the food as much as we do.Happy lunar new year to all~ Tomorrow is going to be a long but exciting day for us :P

This is my 3rd visit here for its lobster porridge at Orchid Live, located at a "rabbits dont shit, birds dont lay eggs" place called Bah Soon Pah. My cravings for lobster kicked in when they mentioned about it during our mahjong game last night. And the same night I dreamt about it. So for dinner, I declared to my family that we just had to have my lobster porridge today! Anyway no one is heartless enough to resist a pleading preggie.

15th January is the day that we held our long awaited Gender Reveal Party. Our place was decorated in blue and pink and filled with children candies. The guests will come dressed in blue if they think it's going to be a boy and pink if they think it's a girl. I've a station set up to collect votes for the names. We shall name our Jellybean according to the names with the most votes.

And a corner where I displayed the guestbook and my belly book which contained our thoughts and ultra scans photos for our guests to view.

I pasted a strict rule at the front door ....

It didnt take long to catch the rule-breakers...

Once all the guests arrived, we began our games, which are actually quizzes and general knowledge of Primary school level. Not as easy as they thought. After the games, we prepared to reveal the gender. Most of them think that we're having a baby girl...

than those who believe it's a boy.

Final result: We are having a baby....BOY !!!

The idea of A Gender Reveal Party

One of the most exciting and significant moment during a pregnancy is to know the gender of the baby. There is this growing trend in American couples; holding a Gender Reveal Party to reveal the gender in front of close friends and love ones, sharing the moment of joy and excitement of the newest member of the group. Guests are encouraged to dressed in blue if they think it's a boy, and pink if they think it's a girl, and at the end of the party, a cake will be cut infront of the guest to reveal the right color of the gender. The youtube is flooded with videos of the joyful and tearful moment during the Gender Reveal Party. These videos below are some of my favourites;

The Record Of Our Prenatal (Tai Jiao) journey

Talking to the belly
Frequency: 1time (15mins) per night

There are tons of researches which emphasize the benefits of talking to your belly, especially when the hearing of the fetus is developing. Hubs has been feeling rather left-out throughout the entire pregnancy, especially since the mother is the one who is carrying the baby and gets to feel every "pregnancy moments". He cant wait to participate in the prenatal bonding with our jellybean too. So since the beginning of my 17th week, I get him to spend 10 -15 mins every night, touching my belly while reciting the following materials I prepared for him; San Zi Jing, Chinese Tang poems and the Heart Sutra. For me, I am reading Dr Suess ' poem ,Oh Baby, The places you go!, a popular book by Dr Suess, to be read in utero. Our main priority or intention of reading the above, is of course not exactly for our jellybean to study the content, which may sounds rather ridiculous if I were to say that the baby is learning what we're reciting to him/her. What we wish to achieve for this "talking to belly" activity, is to start our early bonding with jellybean and also for him/her to be familiar with and recognize the voice patterns of both daddy and mummy. And since we are talking to our baby, might as well we read something "educational" to him/her. And also, I find each bonding session truly relaxing and enjoyable. We would off the TV and all sounds in the room before I lay down on the bed to do my deep breathing, then he would stroke my tummy and do his recitations, and lastly he ends with the declaration of his love for mummy and baby. On the 7th January, jellybean actually responded back by kicking my tummy and I managed to get Hubs to feel it too. It was truly amazing.

Music for the fetus
Frequency: 3 times (5-10mins) weekly

On alternate nights, I'll play 5-10mins of the prenatal baby Mozard songtracks for jellybean. First I plugged in my speakers, adjust them to a comfortable volume and placed them right beside my belly.
On certain days,I'll expose jellybean to the sound of the piano by playing two of my favorite pieces which have pretty good significance to me. The first one is my wedding dance, Marry You by Burno Mars and the second piece is Red River Valley, a favorite piece which I learned when I was eight and have been playing it ever since.

Video is quite laggy though.

I happened to learn about this BabyPlus from a successful user and recommended it to some of my beloveds. And now, being the lovely angel she is, she has lent it to me. BabyPlus is also widely used and recommended by other celebrities mummies, whose videos can be searched on youtube too. I've also checked the reviews online and many mothers have feed backed that BabyPlus babies are able to reach their milestones earlier, lesser sleeping problems, more peaceful and have better response. I cant possibly rate the effectiveness of this device yet, but I knew i will definitely give it a try. Other useful videos on BabyPlus here and here.

Meditation- Sending positive energy to fetus
Frequency: Every night before sleep
Shichida Method believes that mothers have the ability to send positive energy to the child through telepathy. Every night before I fall asleep, I'll place my hand on my belly and imaged a healthy fetus with strong thumping heartbeat. In my heart I'll reassure baby my love for him/her and also remind baby to be good and together we shall wait for the smooth delivery in June.

So there I've ended the record of our prenatal education with our jellybean and so far it has been a very fufilling and memorable journey for us. Hopefully we can continue to maintain these activities till the long-awaited arrival in June.

Best Recollection of my Year 2011

It seems like the year 2011 went by like a non-nonchalant breeze but it certainly had deeply carved down one of the few most significant moments of my life.

In year 2011, I had my Honeymoon in MAURITIUS,
where we were treated like royalties in a palace.

and it's also where I experienced the unbelievably most thrilling extreme sports in my entire life; SKY DIVING. Leaping off the flying jet plane in the sky, 45 secs of free-falling 10 000 ft in the air before ejecting the parachute and enjoying the magnificent bird's eye view of Mauritius island.

Trust me, once you tried sky-diving, there are no more theme park rides in the world that can give you that same thrilling kick.

In year 2011, my actual day wedding was held on 16th April, when I had the most memorable ,touching and funny moments. My wedding express highlight video HERE.

In year 2011, my wedding banquet was held at The Fullerton Hotel and I decided on the gothic elegant romance theme. I had my two darlings to be my emcees for our special night.

All my friends performed the dance "Marry-You" together as our surprise walk-in.

It was absolutely a touchingly beautiful night.In the year 2011, for the first time in the 26 years of my life, I cut my hair short after the wedding. (Although later on I did hair-extensions again but guess we can skip that.) In the year 2011, I completed my Chanel classic collection and from then on, took a break from luxury bags. In the year 2011, it was my first time being the bridesmaid... and wedding planner of one of my best friends.

In year 2011, Hubs and I went on a package tour to Korea

Everything ballooned, from my face to my neck and my arms and legs and body and that's because...

..because in the month of October, I discovered I had a bun baking in my oven! The 10kg weight gained is one of the sacrifices i have to make in exchange for something i want so much in my life.

and we're expecting our little Sun in June next year.The year 2011 has been wonderful, but the year 2012 is going to be tons more exciting and fabulous. Looking forward to it. Happy New Year 2 All!

Fetal/prenatal education (Tai Jiao) – Teaching before birth

Abstracted from TCM:

The guidance in the fetal sensory function is performed to promote the development of infantile intelligence and behavior during the best developmental period of the function of the fetal sensory system. For example, 13 weeks after the gestation, planned speaking and recitation of poems are kept for the fetus; singing songs and playing tapes may be arranged to let the fetus listen. The mother's sounds of talking and laughing with others, are all the good information to promote the development of the fetal auditgnosis and nervous system. Researches have found that if the pregnant woman often listens to lively and sweet music, the fetus will be less restless and grow and develop well; if the pregnant woman is usually exposed to the noisy and deafening rock and roll music, the fetus will be more restless.
Every night before bed time, the pregnant woman put her hands on her abdomen and strokes the fetus to promote the fetal movement. This can arouse the initiative of fetal movement to let the fetus receive earlier training in standing and walking than the untrained fetus.

During the prenatal period, it is important to have a close interaction between the unborn baby and the mother as the close bond will support the growth of the baby’s emotional and intellectual well-being. Working previously as an educator in early learning and right-brain training, I'm a believer of fetal education. Hubs is a great supporter too and he can't wait to start bonding with our jellybean. We decided to start our "tai jiao" from 16-18 weeks onwards as that's the period when the ears of the fetus develop and able to hear outside the womb.

I shall document what we did for our fetal education in the next entry.

I knew I haven't been blogging very frequently recently. Trying to work on that but it just gets difficult when giddy spells have been haunting me these few days and it gets worst if I'll to force myself to stare at the bright screen of my laptop. And any spare time I had, my first priority is to do the most important thing I should be doing...resting or sleeping.

Anyway my hands are also kept full with these 2 big projects coming up...

packing, sorting and categorizing... anyway I still have 6 more months to work on this. Will blog more about it soon. And the 2nd big project is still working along smoothly. Will mention more about it soon once everything has been finalized.

Fetal heart doppler

A fetal heart doppler is a hand held ultrasound device that transmits the sound of the baby's heartbeats to its attached speaker or earpieces. This is our newest buy from the Motherfair at Suntec last week. Even though the box states that the doppler can be used from week 12th onwards,the sales person did mention that it'll be easier to detect the heartbeat from 16th weeks onwards instead.
Since I'm in my 14th week, and with a tilted uterus, we always take quite some time to find the right position to pick up the heartbeat. And each time we did, it always sound so faint and sometimes I wonder if the heartbeat that I'm listening is mine or the baby's.
Anyway we decided to shelf it away until I hit my 16th week and try it again.

Prenatal stuffs that hubby bought during first trimester:

The Baroque Effect 2 : Vitamins for Brains
Hubs and I bought this classical music CD which claims to induce relaxation, reduce anxiety, stimulate creative thinking, aid babies in brain development and many more. It looks like a promising prenatal music for our unborn child, although I've mentioned many times to Hubs that baby can only hear from 16-18 weeks onwards, so we might have bought the cd too early. But Hubs made a very good point too. He insisted that I should start to get used to listening classical music (to replace my so-call R&B trash music), at the same time it helps me to reduce stress and anxiety which will lead to a happier baby.

Before our trip to Korea, Hubs also bought this Belly Armor, which is a fabric band that shields up to 99% of radiation. He was worry if the airport screening machine would cause any harmful effect to baby when I walk through it. And during that time, I've been using laptop and Iphone very often, and he insisted that the Belly Armor will protect baby and also gives him a peace of mind.

Written on the box, Belly Armor encouraged users to try the cellphone test, to prove that it can indeed block out signals and radiations. We wrapped my Iphone in the belly armor and 30 secs later, the signal shown on the phone went down. Hubs was impressed , so he bought it immediately after that. We had this perception that most couples' first child will usually look like the daddy. And Hubs thinks that's because the preggie mommy is always looking at daddy's face, so that's why the child will resembles the daddy. He believes that if our first newborn is a boy, he will be as handsome as him. However if it's a girl, she better resembles her pretty mommy. So hubs came up with the idea of putting up some baby posters in our bedroom, and forced me to stared at them often.I also bought this belly book from Kinokuniya to record my pregnancy details and also to keep all those scans photos in this journal.

2nd trimester is becoming more interesting too...

It finally kicks in

Finally I feel pregnant.
My 1st trimester had been a breeze. But now although I've passed my 12 weeks and reached 2nd trimester, my vomiting kicked in last night and came along with persistent diarrhea and mild cramping till now.Visited the gynae earlier, did a check up, paid a hefty 3 digit figure amount, collected medicine and was put on bed rest.
Must be the spicy food I had for dinner last night.
Will update more once I'm more in a comfort mode.

My TTC journey

Once this photo is posted on facebook, we were touched to receive many sincere congrats and also smses on my hp with all those burning questions like When? hoW? and When again?
Now I like to blog about my TTC (trying-to-conceive) journey, share what we went through, when and how I find out and also our thoughts and excitement about the pregnancy. When did we start trying?

Ever since our wedding banquet ended on 16th April, we knew we were all set to try for a baby .Both of us agreed that we no longer want to wait any further and really look forward to being a young parent.

My Perception
I always thought that to have a baby is as easy as a finger snap. Just ditch the rubber, flick off the bedroom lights and ta-dah...your baby will be on the way to your uterus.
However the first few months was an angst-filled period for us as we met with one disappointment after another. I thought didn't we have everything done right....so where's the baby?

The Trying
I've always lived a charmed life since young and everything always worked out for me. I'm always able to achieve anything I aimed for and everything just goes my way easily. So there finally, I met my match, the challenge against nature or..even God.
Hubs was much more relax at first, as he insisted that we were still young and there's plenty of time for us to try again. I have always thought this is something that I could have it once I want it. Many have claimed that probably due to me being too stress over it, therefore I need to relax and wait...for it to happen.With limited patience, I never like to play the "waiting" game. I mean, am I suppose to do nothing and to just wait at my window for the stork to bring mine ?
I'm never the person to wait for things to happen, especially if it's something I wanted so desperately.Regardless whether anything I do works or not, I will try to make it happen...and not wait and wait and wait.

The Wisdom of Fertility
Over the next few months, I embarked on the journey of seeking the wisdom of fertility. Working as a marketer once, my excellent researching skills finally came in handy. I goggled on any webpages that's related to improving and increasing the chance of fertility, I studied information on library books and I attend talks or workshops on fertility by reputated gynaes or doctors.
I was turned into a fertility guru overnight.
I charted my cycles,recorded my temperature daily, checked my cervical mucus and position and of course baby danced actively during the right period. There is only a window of 24hrs a month, so I need to make sure that we hit the right day. Our diet and lifestyle were changed. We started taking supplements; zinc, vitamin E + selemium and coq10 for him, and folic acid, primrose oil, royal jelly, and vitamin E for me. I took green tea and raspberry tea on alternate day and started an exercise regime to keep myself in the best state to conceive. I stuffed a pillow under my bum and raised my legs for 15 mins. I meditated by placing my hand on my abdomen and visualized that one in a million sperm fusing with my beautiful egg and implanted strongly on my uterus wall.
Sounds insane, but this lady here is going all the way out to have her baby-dream come true.

The Husband's Role
Hubs was not spared from my newly-attained knowledge too. I imparted him lots of information , advices and things-to-do and not-to-do. It was probably the few months of unsuccessful attempts that woke him up and thus he was being extremely cooperative in our baby-making project. Hubs became an expert too...he knew his wife's period well,learned the skill to calculate the monthly ovulation dates, foresees the ovulation symptoms, understands the fertilization process,and knew all about the implantation period and the correct dates to test for pregnancy. Hubs has been very comforting to me during every failure that hits us. Each time I thought "this is it, this is going to be our lucky month and I can feel it.", I raised his hope pretty high but once the judgment day arrived ,either my peestick or "Aunt Flo" will come with the annoying result. I knew he is as disappointed as me, though he doesn't show it as much. He always comfort me with a kiss and hug, and promised that the following month will definitely be our month. But deep down I knew how much he wants to become a daddy and I wanted to fulfill his dream even more.

My Thoughts

During the period of my research online, there are so many stories in forums and blogs about couples who have difficulty conceiving and have been trying for years, 3 years, 5 years or even 10 years... still praying and waiting for their miracle baby. I've only been trying for months and each failure has been rather devastating, so how could anyone has that incredible strength to try again and again for years? Some of them couldn't conceive because of medical issue, some because they had this mentality that i mentioned earlier "I thought I could have it once I want it.", so when they finally decided that they really want it, it became more difficult due to age or other fertility reasons and then they regretted not trying or going for check ups earlier, which could have improve their chances drastically. And there are also a handful of couples who just cant conceive because of no reasons. Either God is still waiting for them to prove themselves as a good parent or just think that they don't deserve to be one. It was then anxiety hit me, what if...God is judging me too?

It was also much coincidence that during that period I was back to watching Friends season 9 and 10. Monica and Chandler were also trying hard to conceive, the ovulation testing, the active "trying", kinda reminds me of what we were doing then. After a medical checkup, they realised that they're not able to conceive at all. We knew Monica will make such a good mother, especially with her excellent culinary, cleanliness and disciplinary skills and Chandler definitely makes a wonderful and funny daddy.They wanted it so much and very well deserve to have a baby, but it just didnt happen to them. It was rather depressing. Anyway in the show, they finally opted for adoption and got themselves twins babies and moved to a beautiful house. A good ending after all.

The First Gynae Visit
My first visit to the gynae was not because I finally got a positive result. After 5 unsuccessful tries, I managed to convince hubs to visit a gynae to do some check up to see if there's any problems we were facing. I mean, if there is, then at least we find out early and solve it early. The gynae did an ultrasound on me and mentioned something about "tipped uterus", which then I goggled online and it means that the uterus tilts backwards instead of forward. The gynae seemed very nonchalance about it and claimed that it's pretty common in some women and said nothing about how it would affect fertility. I didn't ask too. I dont know why, probably I'm just afraid to hear things that I do not wish to hear. Anyway he was very positive that we would succeed after a couple more tries as we were still at the suitable age range to conceive. He prescribed us some supplements and asked us to come back to him again if all else fails. But of course I hope to return with a good news instead.

The Discovery
There is this monthly ritual which I abide religiously during my TCC period- The POAS, which stands for Pee On A Stick. I've stocked up a whole bunch of internet cheapies (cheap pregnancy strips bought over the internet) to do my testing every month. So on the 5th of October, Wednesday morning, with minimal hope, I did my usual testing. If the 2nd line appear, it means it's positive, easy to comprehend. Nothing seems to appear on the strip to get my attention. Well I guessed so too, since I don't even "feel" pregnant that morning. It was when I was about to throw my strip into the bin, I took a 2nd look. A super long look....and was shot awake instantaneously. "Is that a line there??? Are my eyes playing tricks on me??? "I asked for the umpteen time as exuberance started bubbling in me. It was so damn faint and I switched on all the lights in my toilet and room and started examining every angle of this strip. I immediately goggled online for images that have similar faint line as mine and check if this was considered as a positive, or just an evaporation line. No affirmative answer yet and I had to wait for another day to test and see if the line gets any darker. I couldn't wait...I was now so damn close to my baby-dream. This faint line was totally mindfcking me. Hubs was at work, and I couldn't bring myself to call him to tell him about it. What if it was another false alarm? I can no longer bear to look at his disappointed face again. I decided to keep this little secret myself first...it was not an easy feat.
Over the days, I tested with more internet cheapies and also other kinds of pregnancy kits...the line did get darker. I was finally convinced that a baby is on the way... How and When Did Hubs Find Out?
I was contemplating how to break the good news to Hubs. I just felt like jumping around hysterically, hugged him tightly and screamed at his face "we did it! we did it!" I even thought of going for the ultrasound myself, then slipped the ultrasound photo in his wallet to surprise him. However 2 days after my amazing discovery, Hubs was still unaware of my positive result and requested me to do my testing with the pregnancy kit before he leave for work that day. As I mentioned earlier, he already knew when to do the pregnancy test each month. I rejected at first and lied to him that I did the test earlier and it was negative. However he still insisted that I do the testing again so he can see with his eyes that it is truly negative. I was surprised by his unusual persistence, he probably had this father-ly 6th sense that predicted some positive outcome. So I did the test while he was bathing and left the kit on the table. He came out of the shower and asked how's the result, to which I reply that it was negative as usual. He walked to the table and checked the kit, for a very long time, then he checked the instructions on the kit's box, then stared at the kit for a long time again. Then finally, the answer sank in, he looked up awestruck and yelled " YOU PREGNANT??!"
Unable to control myself, an impromptu laughter escaped me. He pushed on adamantly , " YOU PREGNANT RIGHT???!!" Totally overwhelmed by my emotions, I nodded my head and cried out, "You're going to be a daddy."

Back To The Gynae
We returned to the gynae with good news of course on my 5th week. The ultrasound revealed my little sac, where the fetus is going to form in the few weeks to come. We were given the green light to go ahead with our Korea trip and was given a hormones jab and pills to 'protect" the baby. I was also advised to be extra careful, rest more and not to run or carry heavy stuffs.

The First 3 Months Taboo
Most Chinese believe that if a couple announced their pregnancy before the 3rd month, it will cause the baby to be "xiao qi" (short-tempered) and disappear unknowingly. Or, evil spirits that roamed around you will get jealous and take away your baby. But here is the logical explanation. Every women has 20% chance of miscarrying within the first 3 months, and that's like 1 in every 5 women. After you passed the first 3 months, your odds of miscarrying will drop to 2% and therefore many will announce only after they passed their 1st trimester.

Although we were itching to reveal this wonderful news to our closest people, we chose not to yet. Our reason for keeping it a secret is not really due to the Chinese taboo. But since I've not pass the safe stage yet, I was not prepared to make the announcement. Sharing your good news is a wonderful feeling, but sharing your sorrow is certainly heartbreaking. What if I announced to the whole world, and something goes wrong (*touchwood), I would not have the courage and strength to tell the whole world about the bad news. And people who were unaware will congrats me for the wrong reason and this will lead to some sad and awkward scenario which I refuse to even think about it.

In The Next Few Months To Come..
I didn't expect to write so much for this blog entry but words just keep flowing into my head.It is truly still unbelievable that this amazing thing had really happened to me. We took some time for this miracle to happen, 6 months, 6 tries in total. However I believe it was all God's plan for us to wait slightly longer, so we (especially hubs) actually learned much more and appreciate or cherish every moment of this precious pregnancy. And from now you probably be reading more updates related to my belly bump in this blog. I look forward to enjoy this pregnancy, the process, the symptoms and everything that it's going to teach and prepare me for my biggest challenge in life ....
of being a mom.

We started off our day at Lotte World,Which is probably close to something like Disneyland.

Even their food court is prettily fairy-tale like.

We almost tried their cubicle-KTV but gave up because we thought that the sound system will be quite sucky.

The parade began at night

Hubs played the fishing game which we usually see in those Anime cartoons. You use a thin paper net to scoop the fish...fast enough before the paper turn wet and tear.

It was not as difficult as we thought. In the end we managed to catch 5 fishes, which we threw back into the pond.

Our last shopping area is near Star Avenue.

The past few blog entries have pretty much summarized up our Korea trip and I felt that the entries were getting a little boringly stale.

After our long awaited ginseng chicken soup...whic is totally awesome.. we visited Da Chang Jin

where we learned how to make kimchi!

and I got a prize for one of the best-looking kimchi! I got a knack for culinary art!

We changed into the korean traditional costumes for our photo-taking. Hubs was satisfied with his chosen costume, which is the same as the costume of Min Da Ren, in the show of Da Chang Jin.

Hubs was great! He was so into his role!

I love his expression, he can act really well!

Hubs was so engrossed in his role that randomly...so randomly..he picked up a white radish and smile in front of my camera.

I burst out into laughter and asked him what's with the white radish? He shrugged his shoulder in confusion ...as he thought that Min Da Ren is a chef...and the background looks too modern !

During one of the nights,we explored the streets ourselves and found a place for supper. Most Koreans speak neither English nor Mandarin , so it took us some time before we managed to find a suitable eating place which understand what we want to order.We had a bbq meal and his fav cold noodle

Korea part 1

Well, you're probably expected to see the next few blog entries to be the episodes of our trip to Korea. Hubs and I have been talking about going on a yearly trip together as a couple after our wedding, and this year we started off with Korea. Many years back, I've once been on a skiing trip in Korea with my cousins and I remembered it was amazing, and it certainly raise my expectation bar for this Korea trip as well.

We had a great beginning, ours was a SQ flight and we were allocated with really good seats with lots of leg space and best of all, near the toilet! I tend to get very dehydrated on the plane, and I drank alot, which also led to visiting the loo more frequent than usual.
And also, SQ flight provide episodes of 'Big Bang Theory" on their movie screening...how good can it gets?

Cupid Garden Hubs spotted a magpie at the Cupid Garden, and he claimed that if you spot a magpie (in mandarin "xi que"), good things will come your way. He was so thrilled and chased after the frightened bird to get a photo of it.

The last stop was the Tiger & Lion safariwhere we caught the beasts in action...

and witnessed the offspring (mixed breed) of a lion and a tiger... called a Liger.

Traditional Indian Spa

For my sis's birthday this year, I presented her a total new experience of a traditional Indian spa session.

She has been looking forward to it...isnt it?

The unique thing about Indian spa session is their special treatment, whereby they strung a metal bowl with a small hole in the bottom above our head . Oil is then poured into the bowl and it will flow and drip onto the middle of our forehead rhythmically. The middle point of our forehead is where they believed where our third eye is and this special treatment is supposed to allevate headache, mental-stress, insomnia, depression and etc..The whole session lasted 1 hour and 45mins but my sis claimed that she was dying to get out after they started dripping oil on her (she didnt see it coming) LOL. She hated it when the oil was soaked into our hair and we had a hell of time trying to get rid of the oily texture and the smell, even after a couple of shampooing.

I thought the oil dripping was fine though, it was kinda soothing I thought. However I felt a slight outrage of modesty when I was needed to lie down totally naked on the bed, yes totally NAKED, wearing only an oversize disposable panty. I'm way fine with revealing my boobs to any other female but during my other spa sessions, they would at least offer a blanket or towel to cover me up first.

And so throughout this spa session, my boobs were totally exposed and it doesn't help when they covered my eyes during the oil dripping session and the aircon seemed to be on full blast on my helpless naked body. -.- And many times during the treatment,I was kept wondering whether the therapist was staring or examining my boobs (since she has no intention to cover them up), or whether the door was locked because I remembered the receptionist and some therapists outside were male, and what if they happened to walk in? Just kinda disturbed even by the thought of it.

I can only say that it's a totally different kind of experience from the other kinds of spa sessions I had previously. Not exactly the relaxing kind but more on the...exploration of something new and yet-to-try before. Alright, I did it, I've experienced it, and I guessed...probably that's it.

Isa's 1st Bridesmaids Meeting @ Malted Milk

I've learned that Malted Milk is situated at M studio Hotel, and not M Hotel. The above hotels are not the same place! Anyway, Malted Milk is another successful drinking place by the popular Timbre group, but of course it is not as crowded or noisy as Timbre (especially if the soccer-matches were not screened that day.) I'm not a beer-drinker but the rest were going gaga over the variety of beers served and needed DW's recommendation on what to order. This is a bridesmaids meet-up session for our Isa, our gorgeous bride-to-be. Although not all the bridesmaids arrived that night, we still had a good time, chilling, updating our lives, discussing about wedding stuffs and cracking nonsensical jokes.

It was fun meeting you girls (and guy), see you all again real soon!

I’ve been dating my man for 11 years before we declared our vows of love for each other last year and merely one year into my marriage …questions have been posed to me like, “So what is marriage like?” or “How’s your married life?”, “Should I get married too?” Being the first in our group of friends that got married doesn’t make me any of a marriage guru here. But what I’m about to pen down is what I’ve learned, comprehend and experienced throughout my first year of marriage.

There is nothing nobler than to dedicate your life to your special someone, and this to me, is basically what marriage is all about. To survive this marriage game, you need to attain the heart of a saint, and a soul of a servant. How easy will it be for you to still fix him dinner after he yelled at you to fuck off and leave him alone? How easy is for him to still kiss you in the morning after you thrashed his ego and screamed hysterically in front of his friends. (Just examples, neither did our fights go close to that.). Successful couples are those who thrive to achieve this divine skill for the rest of their life, which leads to a stronger marriage that lasts. Therefore, I can also say that strong marriages are only for strong people. And to answer those who once asked me “Should I get married too?” … I’ll first throw you back this question
“Are you strong enough?”

I’ve learnt to believe that couples never fail to face problems, but those problems that continue after marriage are a series of trials and tribulations that lasts throughout. There is no one in the universe that can entirely live up to your expectations because all of us are different. There’s no point requesting for much change from him or her too. If he/she has no intention to change before marriage, what make you think the change will comes after marriage? It’s a dead-end road, and it's impossible to call it quit. And even though if you try to “solve” those problems, you probably find more problems later on that need to be “solved.” It’s a never-ending vicious cycle.

I think it's ridiculous for any couples yearning to be completely 100% satisfied and blissful in a marriage. There is no fairytale in this real world. We are two people who were raised by different parents, lived in different cultures, have different personalities and were taught different standards and have different level of expectations. When you put these two distinctive individuals together ….it’s not going to amalgamate beautifully and perfectly. He has different opinions about the time he should spent with you, and you have different ideas about how money should be spent. It’s unrealistic for your partner to agree everything totally with you and follow your beliefs throughout the entire marriage.Being from two absolutely different upbringings, it’s acceptable to disagree at times, as long as both understand and sympathize with each other feelings and not allow any of the trivial disagreement to end the relationship.

I think men can be complicated at times too. One minute they can insist on being the boss and declare their own space and privacy, and then the next moment they can turn into an emotional puppy craving for the devoted attention of his woman. Oh men (roll eyes)...haizz..

Well back to me, Hubs and I are still in the midst of adjusting our life as a married couple. It has been both fulfilling and can also be frustrating too, but we’re still learning to cope well, trying to balance and making a few enhancements to our lives. Like most couples, we do have our lovey-dovey moments, as well as a couple of melt-downs episodes, and then we rewind it back to lovey-dovey. Each relationship definitely has room for improvement and I guessed sometimes it’s really important to remember why you married your partner.

So this is the end of Adeline’s thought on marriage. I’m just in a mood to write essay today.

Am I happy with my married life?
Answer: Satisfactory, there’s always room for improvements as I said.
We made sacrifices but we certainly gained back more than we expected.

I love the grand and elegant interior ,with high ceilings and tall pillars , and romantic soft violet lightings With the voucher redeemed from Hubs' credit card, I wanted to bring the entire family there. However my dad "flew us aeroplane",and because it was so difficult to make a reservation during the weekends,Hubs and I decided to have lunch there ourselves.

My favorite is ought to be their szechuan spicy and sour soup.

25th September 2011 marked the date of our first year Wedding Anniversary. 365 days before this date, we were having a whale of time at our Alice-in-the-Wonderland ROM party at Rochester. Time flies...

After the hardcore partying last night, today we just want to do something simple and breezy together, activities that allow us to wear casual and for me to be exposed with just sunscreen and BBcream.
First, I brought hubs to the National library but refuse to tell him where we're going. He tried to make a few guesses but failed, and I lied to him about spending the noon reading in the library and doing voluntary work. I just love how he shot me with that look of fear and abhorrence. He was very observant throughout the journey, looking out for clues on the way.
After I collected the tickets then I announced that we are watching The Hossan Leong Show!
I caught the 2nd season last year and reminded myself to bring Hubs along for the next show. He needs a good hearty laugh. Truly 5 stars worth of local entertainment!

Recently we are so into ramens and always in search of great authentic ramens in Singapore. And so then we came upon Tonkotsu King at the 1st floor of Orchid Hotel.The place opens at 6pm, we reached at 5.30pm and waited outside...talk about "kiasuism." By 5.45pm, a short queue was formed outside the restaurant.
A bottle of bean sprouts, black & white sesame seeds and a basket of hard-boiled eggs were already displayed on every table. My man loves ramen ...don't you just love his cute expression?

The restaurant is really very small, very typical Japanese eat-and-go ramen stall you found in Japan. The size of the shop is smaller than my bedroom, no kidding, and it can probably fits no more than 10 tables.

They only serves 3 kinds of ramen...the normal, black spicy and the red spicy ramens,yes only 3 items on the menu and no other side dishes at all. And you get to choose the type of soup, the chicken oil and the texture of the noodle. I ordered the Black Spicy ramen for me and the Red Spicy one for him...both with ALL ingredients; seaweed, chashu meat and flavoured egg! Black Spicy ramen

I love their flavoured egg! The taste and texture are totally indescribable and complements so well with the tasty soup.

My hubs is so pleased with his ramen...(much to my relief). If after arriving half an hour early to queue and taste aweful ramen, my man is going to whine like a baby again.
He claimed that this was the best ramen he had ever tried and voted it as his fav ramen of all!

I'm so obsessed with his weird smile. This man here is my Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, one minute he can be such an angel and fly me to heaven and the next minute, he can turn into a demon which makes me so eager to banish him to hell. This is my husband, the man with a period...and a weird smile. Happy 1 year wedding anniversary!

I'm wearing the dress which I like after I tried it on at Raffles City, but decided not to buy because of its hefty price tag of $249. But the next day, my man secretly bought it for me as a surprise gift. *hAppY*

This is Lynn's nephew, whom I named "handsome", because after taking a photo together with me, he chirped "I very handsome." Aww..it melts my heart.

And of course not forgetting the gorgeous bride, waiting anxiously to make her appearance.

I almost teared during their 2nd walk-in...it was just so beautiful...the feeling is absolutely indescribable ..

The guys enjoyed the free-flow of beer and wine throughout the whole night...

All of Lynn's angels are ready for their devilish plan to torture the groom and his brothers. Each time they cheat or failed in a game, they have to pick one to eat..

We were early that morning, so we have much time to cam-whore before the guys arrived.The very first game is my favorite, which is also the most hilarious one of all...

The last game was the 10 lovely promises that he needs to come out with. Then he would kneel outside the bride's room and take a vow that he would follow through the promises he made. It was so damn sweet~ My Lynn is so god damn mesmerizing..

It was a crazy tiring morning....but certainly a fun and beautiful one ... The car ride is long, but luckily I've a few handsomes to entertain us throughout the journey...

And the next thing that the bridesmaids are looking forward to...the bouquet catching! Yes I'm in the picture too...I can't miss out any fun at all !!!

3 Days Workout/Healthy Diet Challenge

Being the bridesmaid of my good friend's wedding which is approaching real soon, and the current trend of jogging sessions among the guys, I thought I should use this opportunity to lose some excess flabs too.

This is an account of my attempt to lose some weight by working out and dieting healthily.

First of all, all my food will be cooked with olive oil I added more organic vegetable to my meals instake This is what I had for lunch; chicken breasts shreds and broccoli and my dinner consists of steamed sliced fish and a portion of mixed vegetable For snacks or breakfast, I had tuna salad or sandwich or cereal with low-fat milk

I tried the low-calories meals from Xndo and it tastes horrible and absolutely unappetizing. And I finally know why Xndo claims that you will lose weight with their meals....because they totally kill your appetite.

With 30 minutes of daily workout which consists of cross-training and light weight-lifting, I've stated my weight record below.

The weight on my first day is 55.4kg

And on the 2nd day, it dropped to 54.9kg, which was a lost of 500g.

And on the 3th day, I lost another 400g at 54.5kg

To sum it all, I lost nearly 1kg within 3 days.
It seems like a pretty long way to my pre-wedding weight at 45, but I guess with more determination, strength and endurance.....miracle may happen.

"How many more days to your PSLE?'
I issued a rather austere warning but my words of admonition failed to dampen their euphoric spirits. Yes, just merely weeks before their PSLE, they are already immersed in the holiday mood.
Most of them have no sense of urgency of the present situation, well...very much to my consternation. Usually in class, I often have to use my derisive glares or loud clarion voice to instill fear , especially in those students who have mischief up their sleeves.
I've to constantly remind them that trusty last minute studying never work.
This is my last 30days of glory....being their teacher.

We heard a bang! then another bang! then screech....and one last sickening BANG!!!...our car lurched forward and my iphone I was holding flew and slamed hard on the dashboard. Together with Pat, we got down from the car and were totally taken aback by the aftermath of the series of "bangs!"

5 cars and 1 SBS bus were involved in the collision and the next thing I knew, a man came running to us, shouting whether anyone called the ambulance. Looking at the injured victims and the damages of the other cars, we were considered to be the luckier ones.

Pat's black Toyota Rush only suffered minimal damage.The accident was published on the chinese newspaper on the following day

Both songs remind me of my beautiful wedding. Each time Hubs and I hear this song outside, we would give each other the “hey, that’s our song” look, and smile bashfully.

THREE FILMS

-Signs by Mel Gibson. Many of the people I knew hated this movie but I really think it makes a lot sense to me and how it kinda inspired me to think that everything around you happen for a reason and it’s all part of God’s plan to make you stronger or to assist you further down the road.

- Shutter, the 1^st thai horror film to freak me out in the cinema. I managed to guess out the ending of this movie but still, it freak me out the same.

Apocalypto by Mel Gibson. One of the rare films that stir up many of my emotions in me. And also the only film that is in a language which I don’t understand, but still manage to leave an impression in my mind.

FOUR BOOKS

When I was a young kid, my first few batches of books were the series from Enid Blyton , Bookworm club and Roald Dahl, before progressing to Sweet Valley High and FearStreet books. I think since then, all my reading materials are from the magazines or my best friend called Goggle.

FIVE FOOD

-Soup (Top fav comfort food)

- My mom’s curry chicken (she has passed on her secret recipe to me)

- Sushi (raw salmon + avocado and chawanmushi)

- Ice cream cakes (For my sweet tooth moments)

-I want to own a theme café. I have plenty of crazy innovative ideas…but probably no monetary motivation though.
